China's unemployment rate for 16-24 year olds falls for third straight month - Chinese report

On the 18th, the National Bureau of Statistics of China released the unemployment rate statistics by age group for November. In November, the unemployment rate for 16-24 year olds in both urban and rural areas nationwide fell by 0.1 percentage points from the previous month to 1.
The unemployment rate for those aged 25 to 29 was 6.1%, down 0.1 percentage point to 6.7%, and the unemployment rate for those aged 30 to 59 remained steady at 3.8%. All figures exclude students currently enrolled in school.
The unemployment rate for those aged 16 to 24 fell for a third straight month. The surveyed unemployment rate for both urban and rural areas nationwide was 5.0 percent in November, unchanged from the previous month, according to the bureau's data.
The average unemployment rate surveyed was 5.1%, down 0.1 percentage point from the same period last year. A bureau official said, "As the domestic economy recovers steadily, employment in both urban and rural areas will increase overall under the employment support policy.
"The unemployment rate in urban and rural areas nationwide in November has remained at a low level since the start of the year.
The survey unemployment rate for people registered in rural areas was 4.4%, down 0.3 percentage points from the previous month.
