Actor Song Joong Ki spoke about his special affection for Colombia, where the movie "Bogota: The Land of Last Chance" was shot, and his special bond with the country of Colombia.
Actor Song Joo-soo attended the press conference for the film "Bogota: The Land of Last Chance" (hereafter "Bogota") held at the MEGABOX COEX store in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the afternoon of the 19th.
The cast includes Lee Hee-Jun, Kwon Hea-Hyo, Park Ji-Hwan, Kim Jung-Soo, and director Kim Seong-je. "Bogota" is a story about a young man who travels to the other side of the world with new hopes after the Korean financial crisis.
The story unfolds as Kukki (Song Joong Ki) heads to Bogota, Colombia, and becomes entangled with Suyeong (Lee HeeJun) and Sergeant Park (Kwon Hea Hyo), two influential figures in the Korean community in Bogota.
Song Joong Ki said about the filming process in Colombia, "I couldn't enjoy Colombia because there was a lot of filming going on. Filming overseas is always unpredictable.
It was not easy because it was an environment where strange things happen. However, rather than focusing on the strange environment, I focused on the conflict between Koreans living far away from each other, regardless of the strange environment or location.
I had many discussions with the staff and many unexpected ideas came up during the rare time we spent there. I got a lot of power from my colleagues, so I was able to do well.
"It seems like the film was made in Colombia," he recalled. The film is set in Colombia, a crime genre, and there were concerns that the film would be met with resistance from Colombia due to its portrayal of a crime scene.
Song Joong Ki also shared his honest thoughts on the issue, saying, "My mother-in-law is from Colombia, and my wife's family lives there. I heard from them that she used to be a member of Colombia.
"It seems that the Colombian people are ashamed of their country's bad image and have made a lot of efforts to erase it," he said, "But the Colombian country I lived in was full of energy.
It is a place full of warmth and the food is delicious. I have also seen the efforts of people trying to get away from the old image. I have a strong memory of having a really good time.
"A lot of YouTubers have visited the site, and I think a lot of the old image has disappeared," he said. Meanwhile, "Bogota: The Land of Last Chance" is scheduled to be released in theaters in Korea on December 31.
