South Korean opposition lawmaker: ”Distributing anti-North Korea leaflets is an act of sympathy with civil unrest under the guise of freedom of expression”
On the 24th, Lee Yong-hee, a member of South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party, criticized the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets as an act of sympathy with civil unrest under the guise of freedom of expression.
That afternoon, Rep. Lee posted on social media, "Freedom of expression is an important element of democracy, but anyone can harm social order under the pretext of freedom of expression.
"The situation in Korea's civil war has not yet been resolved," he continued, "The illegal emergency martial law and the masterminds of the civil war are inciting local wars.
"At a time when it appears that North Korea is about to launch an offensive, distributing anti-North Korea leaflets and raising tensions in the areas along the North-South border is an act of provoking external aggression and siding with the internal conflict," he said.
Rep. Lee responded to the groups that are teasing the distribution of anti-North Korean leaflets by saying, "For the safety of residents in the areas around the North-South border and for peace on the Korean Peninsula, we are asking them to stop distributing anti-North Korean leaflets.
We demand that the project be immediately suspended."
