”Harbin” attracts 840,000 moviegoers on Christmas Day, breaking the record set by ”Avatar 2”

The movie "Harbin" drew 840,000 viewers on Christmas Day, heating up the Korean winter theaters. With a total audience of over 1.25 million, it seems that the 2 million mark is not far off.
"The record is the highest number of moviegoers on Christmas day since the corona pandemic. On the morning of the 26th, according to the Film Promotion Committee's integrated cinema ticket calculation network, "Harbin" had the highest number of moviegoers on Christmas day.
It attracted 847,819 people in one day. The cumulative number of viewers in the first two days of its release was 1,254,043. This is the third consecutive year that "Avatar: Way of Water" (hereafter "Avatar 2") has been ranked 1st in the list of viewers.
This surpasses the previous record of 772,960 people who attended Christmas in one day, and is the highest attendance on a Christmas day since Fandemic.
"Harbin," released on the 24th of this month, is about people heading to Harbin in 1909 for a single purpose and those who pursue them.
The film depicts the tense pursuit and suspicion of the two. On Christmas Day, the total box office in theaters was about 1.5 million people, the highest record this year. "Harbin" led to the expansion of theater box offices.
With the audience's enthusiastic response, attention is focused on whether the box office will continue to do well. While "Harbin" is leading the way, another Korean film, "Firefighter," is also doing well at the box office despite only being released for four weeks.
The excitement is clear. "Firefighter," which came in second at the box office, attracted 193,335 viewers the previous day, bringing the total number of viewers to 2,936,716.
