He was accompanied on the visit by Minister of Health and Welfare Cho Kyu-hong and Acting Minister of Administration and Safety Go Ki-dong. Acting Minister Choi wrote in the mourners' book, "The victims were sorely missed.
"We will not forget the 179 victims, and will do our utmost to make our country safer," he wrote. After paying his respects, Choi traveled to Muan International Airport and held a private meeting with representatives of the bereaved families.
According to the report, the family expressed their gratitude to Park Sang-woo, Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and Lee Jin-cheol, head of the Busan Regional Aviation Administration, who are constantly monitoring the scene, and said, "We hope to complete the DNA test as soon as possible."
Acting Chief Choi responded, "I will do my best to respond," and after the meeting, he moved to the second floor of the airport to console other bereaved families and arrange a quick memorial for the body.
The two sides discussed the handover. Acting Director Choi emphasized that he would "assist with any difficulties" and "make sure the handover is carried out as soon as possible, as requested by the bereaved families, and to improve communication with the bereaved families."
"I want to further improve our communication," he said. Choi also inspected the crash site where the wreckage of the aircraft was found and encouraged the Fire and Disaster Management Agency staff on the scene.
