On January 1, the first day of the new year, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stayed in Muan, where the Jeju Airlines disaster occurred, to console the families of the victims.
After the plenary session ended the previous day, Representative Lee visited Jeollanam-do and attended the 'Seoul Democracy Forum' held at the 5.18 Democracy Square in Dong-gu, Gwangju City in the morning.
He laid flowers at the "Joint Memorial Service for the Victims of the State Airline Disaster." In his condolence book, he wrote, "Forget the hustle and bustle of this world and rest in peace."

For the time being, pending issues such as the impeachment trial of President Yoon Seok-yeol, the investigation into the state of emergency and the special investigation into the civil unrest are being handled by the National Assembly, led by People's Power Floor Leader Park Chan-dae.
