On the 3rd (today), Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University posted on his SNS, "The production team of the KBS TV series is setting up props at Byeongsan Seowon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
"An architect who visited the site raised the issue, and many internet users shared their information with us, which is what we found out about," he said.
The professor continued, "The production team for the new KBS TV series, 'I Stole the Lead Actor's First Experience,' recently hammered nails into various places in Byeongsanseowon Seowon in Andong for the filming of the TV series.
Regarding this, KBS issued an official apology and said that they are currently discussing the best way to restore the show.
The situation is serious. There have been incidents such as the vandalism of the Seongneung tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in August last year, and the graffiti attack on the walls of Gyeongbokgung Palace two years ago.
"In the future, we will need to improve public awareness of the importance of cultural properties, rather than simply issuing punishment," he said.
"To achieve this, we must strengthen education on cultural heritage starting from elementary school," he said, adding, "By spreading K-content around the world, we can encourage people to experience Korean culture and history."
"In this situation, we must first take care of our cultural assets and do everything we can to preserve them," he said, drawing attention to the situation.
A netizen who identified himself as an architect visited Byeongsanseowon Seowon on December 30th last month and discovered that a nail had been driven into the pillar while the building was being used as a filming location for a KBS TV series.
The TV series in question is KBS's "I Stole the Lead Role's First Time," starring Girls' Generation's Seohyun and 2PM's Taecyeon.
KBS said, "Regardless of the reason, KBS realizes the seriousness of the situation that occurred at the scene and apologizes," and added, "The relevant TV series staff confirmed the scene with Byeongsanseowon officials."
"We are currently discussing procedures for restoration. We will also actively discuss measures to prevent a recurrence in the future and any additional damage that may occur."
