Duty-free purchases on China's Hainan islands to exceed 30 billion for 2024 - Chinese media

According to Haikou Customs in Hainan Province, China, the total amount of duty-free purchases in the outlying islands of Hainan Province, which are supervised and managed by Haikou Customs, is expected to reach 30.94 billion former (approximately 666 billion yen) in 2024.
The total number of people using the duty-free service was 5,683,000, and the number of purchases was 33,082,000. In addition, the amount of duty-free purchases on the former holiday on January 1, 2025 was 130 million former (approximately 2.8 billion yen),
The total number of people using the duty-free service was 21,000, and the number of purchases was 111,000. In order to stimulate the offshore duty-free consumption market, Haikou Customs has implemented measures such as online payment and "offshore duty-free automated inspection."
The government has promoted the implementation of the measures above, so that the high-quality development of offshore duty-free services will benefit more travelers. Multifaceted efforts are being made to support the recovery of the offshore duty-free market.
