Daegu mayor criticizes the withdrawal of the ”insurrection charge,” saying, ”Is Jajangmyeon without sauce still Jajangmyeon?” = South Korea
The National Assembly impeachment panel led by South Korea's largest opposition party, the Democratic Party of Korea, has filed a motion to impeach President Yoon Seok-yeol on the grounds for impeachment.
Hong Jun-pyo, the Daegu governor, said, "I have no intention of abandoning the treason charge."
Mayor Hong criticized the president on the 6th, saying, "If you remove the jjajang sauce from jjajangmyeon, does it still become jjajangmyeon?" Mayor Hong also posted on Feibook that day, "This is the core of the impeachment proceedings.
If the "insurrection charge" that was originally filed against him has been withdrawn, then no matter how the indictment was changed, the case is no longer the same, and therefore the impeachment against former Acting President Han Deok-soo is invalid.
Mayor Hong wrote, "The Constitutional Court has now swiftly decided to return the situation to normal, following the scheme of legal consent led by Lee Jae-myung (the Democratic Party leader).
"We need to find a way forward," he said, urging the Constitutional Court to "not just leave the political turmoil unchecked, but to accept the provisional injunction and return the country to normal before setting a future schedule."
"This is an urgent task for the Constitutional Court, which is the last bastion of the Constitution," he said. "The Constitutional Court should no longer be regarded as a stooge of President Lee Jae-myung's government."
I hope that this stigma will not be removed," he wrote.
