On the 6th January, Taeyeon revealed on the fan communication platform ‘bubble’ why she would not be participating in ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL’ (hereafter referred to as ‘SM Concert’).
Taeyeon revealed, "I was in a situation where I wanted to do a great stage and I was waiting for the company to prepare because I wanted to perform two or three songs with ambition. In conclusion, I couldn't do it from the beginning because they didn't prepare me."
She continued, "It's definitely not because I'm not willing or don't want to do it. I just want to do my best with sincerity and love for the stage, but they don't support me properly, so I'm seriously considering it. What is this all about?"
She also explained that she told SONE (Girls' Generation's fans) this because she thought they might have some misconceptions about me.
In response, one fan asked, "Isn't there something going on at the office? The office must be in trouble", to which Taeyeon replied, “That circumstance is that you accidentally forgot to tell them, so you must be in trouble”, revealing that.
It was recently reported that Taeyeon and Wendy (Red Velvet) will not be attending the ‘SM Concert’. On the 6th, Melon Tickets, an online ticket booking agency, announced, "Wendy will not be performing due to personal reasons. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the change in the line-up, and we will be able to cancel reservations and provide refunds without cancellation fees through the customer support of the booking agency."
Following Taeyeon's announcement in December last year that she would not be attending the event, Wendy has also been forced to cancel her participation. Wendy also told fans, "You may or may not have seen the public announcement, but the public announcement only came out today, even though we've been talking with the agency for over a month. I'm sure there were many Rabbis (nickname for the fan name of ‘Red Velvet’) waiting for the five members of ‘Red Velvet’ to take the stage, but sorry, it's the 30th anniversary, so there should be a variety of stages prepared for you. I hope you have a good time. I am always grateful and sorry."
As artists affiliated with the group revealed the circumstances of their non-participation in response to the news of their successive non-participation in the concert, it has been pointed out that their agency may not be sincere towards the artists.
Meanwhile, ‘SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in SEOUL’ will be held at the Gocheok Skydome in Guro-gu, Seoul, on the 11th and 12th September.
