”Squid Game 2” Park Sung Hoon, Trang Suzy Wender: ”After makeup, I was surprised at how much I looked like my sister”

Actor Park Sung Hoon revealed the things he paid special attention to in preparing for the role of Tran Suzy. Park Sung Hoon joined the Netflix series "Squid Game 2" as a new member.
In the drama, she plays Hyun-joo, a transgender woman who needs money to undergo a sex change operation. Hyun-joo is a brave character who shows leadership even in difficult situations.
During a recent interview with Herald POP at a cafe in Seogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, he confessed, "I tried hard not to come across as ridiculous."
She said, "The director saw my one-act play and told me that even though the role was ordinary, he had imagined the character of 'Hyun-ju.' I was surprised and puzzled.
"I wanted to make sure that the character of Suzy wasn't made ridiculous," he said. He continued, "I met with real transgenders to ask for their opinions, and I also did some personal research.
"I was really careful not to overly change my voice or make exaggerated gestures. I wanted to portray the character Jo Hyun-joo, a 'human', and what kind of life she has lived and what kind of attitude she has.
"I focused on the character's ability to take the right direction," he explained. Above all, as soon as the teaser was released, it was flooded with comments such as, "It's beautiful." Park Sung Hoon said, "I really like Hyun Joo.
The visuals for "I Love You" were decided in consultation with the director and the costume and makeup teams. My first thought was, 'She looks a lot like my sister.' My sister also said, 'We look alike, don't we?'" she revealed.
He also said, "The character Hyun-ju is the most righteous, altruistic, caring, strong, and has leadership skills among the participants.
"She's a very kind and good person, so I wanted her to become a character that many people would feel attached to," he said. "I hope that people will be able to show that side of Hyun-joo."
I hope that this will have a positive impact on people who hold prejudices. There are prejudices that I expected and some that I didn't expect, but I hope that they will all be eradicated.
"Fortunately, I'm grateful that many people have been positive about it," he added. "Squid Game 2," in which Park Sung Hoon plays Hyun-ju, is a story about a young woman who vows to take revenge.
The story depicts the fierce confrontation between Ki-hoon (played by Lee Jung Jae) who returns to join the game again and the frontman (played by Lee Byung Hun) who welcomes him, and the real game that begins once again.
