A US lawmaker from the state of Oklahoma has introduced a bill to allow for bitcoin pay and settlement. On the 8th (local time), Republican Senator Dusty Devers
Deevers has proposed a bill that would allow employees and residents in Oklahoma to receive their pay in Bitcoin and allow merchants to accept Bitcoin payments.
Senator Devers introduced the "Bitcoin Freedom Act," stating, "If Washington DC could screw something up, they probably would."
"And it's certainly undermining the U.S. dollar," he said. "At a time when inflation is eroding the purchasing power of hardworking Oklahomans, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency that can protect income and investments."
"As Bitcoin continues to rise and dollars continue to be printed and lost in Washington DC, Oklahoma is taking steps to protect its residents," he said.
"We must act to ensure that this bill is implemented," he added. The bill, called SB 325, was designed to make participation completely voluntary. Devers said:
