A man in his 90s was killed while replacing charcoal briquettes in a detached house in Yangpyeong County, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
According to the Yangpyeong Police Station on the 11th, a charcoal briquette pit was opened outside a detached house in Danwol-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun at around 6:18 a.m. the previous day.
A report was received that Mr. A was not moving in the cooling room. Police and fire authorities were dispatched to the scene and recovered Mr. A's body, with his clothes and parts of his skin burned.
It was reported that rigor mortis had set in on Mr. A's body. A police source said, "Mr. A either acted negligently and suffered an accident, or died from a chronic illness.
"We are unable to determine for certain what caused the death," he said, adding, "We will only be able to determine the exact cause of death once the results of the autopsy are released by the National Forensic Service."
Police are consulting with the National Institute of Scientific Investigation to confirm the exact circumstances of Mr. A's death.
An autopsy has been requested from the hospital.
