On the same day, the Director-General held the 24th Japan-Korea Consular Consultation Meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul. At the meeting, the two countries agreed to further improve consular relations, including improving the convenience of immigration and stays, and providing consular support to their nationals in each other's countries.
They exchanged views on a wide range of issues. Director Yoon said, "This year marks the 60th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and South Korea. Let's work closely together to strengthen cooperation in the consular field."
"We hope that people-to-people exchanges between the two countries will be further invigorated this year," said a Foreign Ministry official. "The two countries have agreed to hold the next consular conference in Tokyo at an appropriate time."
"I did," he revealed.
