South Korea releases security chief who prevented President Yoon's arrest... Police ”consider not seeking arrest warrant for deputy security chief”

On the 19th, the South Korean police's emergency martial law special investigation headquarters arrested Lee Kwang-woo of the Presidential Security Service on suspicion of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-yeol (special obstruction of official duties).
The Special Investigation Headquarters explained to the media that night, "This decision was made in consideration of the fact that the prosecution did not request an arrest warrant for Deputy Chief of Security Kim Sung-Hoon, which we had applied for earlier."
The special investigation headquarters had applied to the prosecution for an arrest warrant for Kim the day before, but the prosecution said Kim voluntarily appeared for questioning by the police and that there was no risk of him committing another crime if the arrest warrant for President Yoon was executed.
The special investigation headquarters said, "We have determined that there is a high risk of evidence destruction, especially with regard to accomplices, as suspicions of crime (of Deputy Director Kim) have been made clear."
"We will actively consider whether to reapply for an arrest warrant through supplementary investigations," he said.
He turned himself in and was arrested. When he turned himself in, Chief Lee said, "I will faithfully cooperate with the investigation by the investigative authorities," but also claimed, "The Security Service was simply carrying out its legitimate duties within the security area."
