Vivek Ramaswami to run for Ohio governor without joining the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)

Entrepreneur and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has been digging into the Trump administration's efforts to streamline government as he prepares to run for governor of Ohio.
On the 21st (local time), Vivek Ramaswami said through X that he was “honored to be able to support the establishment of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)” and that “the
"I'm confident that Elon Musk and his team will be successful in streamlining the administration," he said. He did not reveal any specifics about his future plans, but CBS News and The New York Times reported.
US media reported that he would soon declare his candidacy for Ohio Governor. Ramaswami reaffirmed his support for President Donald Trump, saying he would "have more to say soon."
"Vivek Ramaswamy played a key role in the creation of DOGE," DOGE spokeswoman Anna Kelly told The Associated Press.
He plans to run for elected office soon and, under the structure announced today, would have to leave DOGE.
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's second and legally final term ends in January 2027.
