China's installed power generation capacity to grow 14.6% in 2024 from 2018: Chinese report

On the 21st, the National Energy Administration of China released nationwide power industry statistics for 2024. As of the end of December 2024, China's nationwide power generation capacity is expected to increase 14.6% year-on-year to about 33.
Of this, solar power generation capacity increased by 45.2% to about 890 million kilowatts, and wind power generation capacity increased by 18.0% to about 520 million kilowatts.
In addition, the average operating hours of power plants with a capacity of 6,000 kilowatts or more nationwide was 3,442 hours, down 157 hours from the previous year.
The amount of investment in power supply construction by major electric power companies nationwide increased by 12.1% to 1,198.7 billion yen (approximately 25.5 trillion yen).
Of this, investment in power grid construction increased by 15.3% to 608.3 billion yen (about 13 trillion yen).
