China's 31 provinces have set 2025 GDP targets - Chinese media
The 2025 provincial-level Two Sessions (Chinese People's Congress and People's People's Political Consultative Conference) were held one after another in China, and as of the 21st, 31 provinces (regions and cities) had announced their 2025 gross domestic product (GDP) targets.
The majority of provinces (regions and cities) set a target of 5% or more. Among them, the Tibet Autonomous Region set a target of 7% or more and aimed to achieve 8%, the highest target in the country.
Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hubei Province, Chongqing Municipality and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region set a target of "6% or more," while Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hubei Province, Chongqing Municipality and Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region set a target of "around 6%."
The top three economically powerful provinces all have a target of 5%. Guangdong Province is aiming for "around 5%", Jiangsu Province is aiming for "around 5%",
Looking at the GDP of these three provinces in 2024, Guangdong Province will newly enter the 14 trillion former (about 300 trillion yen) range, maintaining its position as the nation's top province for the 36th consecutive year.
Suzhou province saw a 5.8% increase from the previous year to 13.7 trillion former (about 295 trillion yen), the highest increase rate in the country. Shandong province saw a 5.7% increase from the previous year to 9.86 trillion former (about 212 trillion yen), just one step away from reaching the national record.
It will be the third 10 trillion former province.
