SBS's ‘K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30’, which aired on the 28th, dealt with the history of S.E.S., the first girl group in K-POP.
SM Entertainment artists showed their exceptional love for ‘S.E.S.’ by revealing episodes in which they nurtured their dreams by watching them. It was an honourable moment of respect from the junior artists, but Shoo's face was mosaicked.
On the ‘S.E.S.’ document screen, which continues to appear, only one of Shoo's faces was mosaicked. This was because of controversial charges of habitual gambling.
Shoo was sentenced to six months in prison, two years of probation and 80 hours of community service in February 2019 after allegedly engaging in habitual gambling worth 700 million won ($75 million) on 26 occasions overseas, including in Macau, between August 2016 and May 2018.
Subsequently, Shoo was placed on the KBS and MBC suspended entertainers lists; in the case of SBS, there is no special suspended entertainers list, but it is assumed that he was mosaicked again this time because of the social controversy caused by the habitual gambling allegations.
There have been other such incidents this month: on MBC's music variety programme ‘Undercover Song King’ on the 26th, Choi Eun Jung from ‘Cleo’ appeared on the show. On the same day, it was the moment when Choi Eun Jung revealed her identity.
Choi Eun Jung then introduced himself, saying that he used to be in a group with ‘Fin.K.L’ and ‘S.E.S.’. Shoo was mosaicked on the stage material screen of ‘S.E.S.’; for MBC, this was unavoidable as Shoo was included in the list of suspended entertainers.
Following MBC, SBS also made a mosaic of Shoo, attracting a lot of attention.
Meanwhile, on ‘K-POP The Beginning: SMTOWN 30’ broadcast that day, not only Shoo, but also Shin Hye-sung (SHINHWA), who was suspected of drunk driving, and Kang-in from ‘SUPER JUNIOR’, who was suspected of assault and drunk driving, were also mosaicked.
