[Full article] ”Desperate situation” NewJeans member parents finally speak out...open social media account

The parents of the members of NewJeans opened a SNS account to express their position on the exclusive contract dispute with HYBE.

　They had been trying to communicate in various ways, but they decided to do so directly as there was no official contact point and it was difficult for them to accurately convey their position through the media.

　They also reported that there was information that HYBE and ADOR were spreading false articles about the members before the provisional injunction lawsuit, and that they opened the account because of the need to correct the facts.

　The five members of NewJeans had previously announced that they were terminating their contract with ADOR and reiterated that they would not be returning to HYBE. Currently, they are publicly seeking a new activity name that is not NewJeans. They are taking their own path.

　Below is the full text of the parental position of the five ‘NewJeans’ members

　Hello. I am the parent of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

　We would like to inform you that this account is a temporary account and was unavoidably opened to represent our position in the dispute with HYBE.

　As there was no official window to communicate our position, we have made numerous efforts to interview them directly through several media outlets and other media organisations, and to try to communicate the facts through journalists we know.
　
　Thankfully, only a few media outlets reported the story as it was, and we also tried to distribute the whole story through an agency, but we were perplexed that our position could be conveyed without distortion in the paper, for example, by misrepresenting the headline.

　While the members' stories were only distributed in a very small number of articles, if not distorted or quoted in a negative frame, HYBE and ADOR, through a number of media outlets, including the purported media, were not even allowed to go through the process of fact-checking and counter claims that a media organisation should go through. On the other hand, HYBE and ADOR, through several media outlets, including the purported media, have distributed hundreds of articles and other materials containing false facts or articles that only represent HYBE's and ADOR's position, without even going through the process of fact-checking and the right to request a rebuttal, as any media organisation should.

Unfortunately, we are compelled to make this account in response to a situation in which HYBE and ADOR are also circulating rumours to several reporters in order to spread falsehoods about their members in the run-up to a provisional injunction action.

　We are very sorry, as we know that some people are exhausted by the protracted conflict. However, please understand that the content communicated through this account is mainly difficult for the members to communicate directly, and we are in a desperate situation where we need a communication channel to correct the facts on behalf of the members as their only representative at the moment.
