Among the menu items surveyed, the one that saw the smallest increase was kimbap, which went from an average of 3,200 won (about 330 yen) 10 years ago to 3,500 won (about 370 yen) last year.
The price of jajangmyeon increased by a relatively large amount due to a large rise in the price of the main ingredients used in cooking.
According to the Consumer Price Index of the Statistics Bureau's National Statistics Portal, the price of green onions has risen by 110% in the past 10 years, while the price of cucumbers has risen by 100%, zucchinis by 70%, and onions by 60%.
The prices of processed foods such as salt (80%), edible oil (50%), soy sauce (40%), and flour (30%) also rose.
If things continue as they are, the price of jajangmyeon in Seoul is expected to exceed 8,000 won next year.
