According to the police, the support group "National Movement Headquarters for a Right to the Republic of Korea" held a demonstration at 1 pm on the 1st in Gwanghwamun, Jongno-gu, Seoul.
The "Gwanghwamun National Rally" will be held in front of the duty-free shop at Exit 6 of Gwanghwamun Station. The number of people who have applied to participate in the rally is about 30,000, and they will be chanting "Arrest Lee Jae-myung, the mastermind of the rebellion," "Martial law is legal! Impeachment is illegal!
At 4 p.m. on the same day, the opposition group "Yoon Seok-youl Immediate Resignation - Emergency Action for Social Reform" also held a rally from Gwanghwamun to Chokseon intersection, where they protested against Yoon.
They are calling for the president's impeachment. About 10,000 people have signed up to participate in the rally, which is scheduled to continue on to Post Office Road, Namdaemun Road, Sungnyemun Junction, and Taepyeong Junction.
Prior to this, the emergency action group held a preliminary rally in front of Exit 1 of Anguk Station on Seoul Subway Line 3 from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm, and then held a rally at 4:00 pm.
The protest march will occupy two lanes of the Dongsipcha intersection until 12:00 p.m. The police plan to deploy about 240 traffic police officers to prevent accidents. They will also operate variable lanes to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
The plan is to maintain smooth traffic flow and minimize inconvenience to citizens. A police official said, "We are working to prevent demonstrations in Sejong-daero, Sajik-ro, Yulgok-ro and other areas in the city center.
"Traffic congestion is expected around the rally site," he said, urging people to "use public transportation such as the subway as much as possible, and check traffic information in advance if traveling by car."
