In response, the Chinese authorities stated that they would impose an additional 10% tariff on imported goods.
Based on the fundamental principles of law, and with the approval of the State Council, the United States announced that it will impose additional tariffs on certain imports originating from the United States from February 10, 2025.

China said the unilateral imposition of additional tariffs by the United States violated World Trade Organization (WTO) rules.
It also said the move violated international rules and would hinder normal economic and trade cooperation between China and the United States.
