100,000 people sign petition to impeach Judge Moon... Rep. Yoon: ”This is the voice of the people” (South Korea)

Yoon Sang Hyun, a lawmaker from the ruling People Power Party, said on the 5th that an impeachment motion against Moon Hyun-bae, acting chief justice of the Constitutional Court, was submitted to the National Assembly via an online petition in the National Assembly.
Regarding the case being referred to the Constitutional and Judiciary Committee, Rep. Yoon stated, "This is the solemn voice of the people." On the same day, Rep. Yoon wrote on Fei Book, "Judge Moon, as the acting chief justice of the Constitutional Court,
"The courts have been criticized for not maintaining the fairness of their courts," he said. The petition had garnered the support of 99,125 people by 7 p.m. that day and was referred to the Legislation and Judicial Affairs Committee.
"The public feels that Judge Moon's trial process is somewhat biased," he said. Once 100 people have agreed to an online petition, it moves to the "petition requirements review" stage, and within 30 days, 50,000 people agree to it.
If the petition is accepted, it is officially accepted and then referred to the appropriate committee depending on its content. The Standing Committee reviews the petition and either brings it up for consideration at the plenary session or discards it.
Regarding this matter, Rep. Yoon said, "Judge Moon only removed the charge of treason from the impeachment charges in the impeachment trial of President Yoon.
Article 24 of the Constitutional Court Act (which provides that the only reason a party to an impeachment trial may challenge a judge is if the party is concerned about the fairness of the trial) and Article 32 (the Constitutional Court is currently investigating

"Article 51 (which allows the impeachment trial to be suspended if an impeachment trial and a criminal proceeding are ongoing for the same reason) has not been effectively observed," the ministry said in a statement.

"The impeachment petition against Judge Moon is the solemn voice of the people," he said, explaining the reason for his decision. "Judge Moon should not misinterpret the voice of the people for political reasons.
