On February 1st, member Do Yeong celebrated his birthday and announced that he had donated 30 million won (approximately 3.15 million yen) to support malnutrition-stricken children in South Korea.
Do Yeong's heartfelt sharing will be a great help to low-income children and adolescents who have difficulty finding food to eat during the winter vacation due to the lack of help from adults.
According to the Korea Ministry of Health and Welfare's Child Meal Support Status (2024), there are approximately 272,400 children nationwide who are unable to eat properly due to financial difficulties, absenteeism, or neglect.
This means that 4 to 5 out of every 100 children are suffering from hunger. The 30 million won donation that Do Yeong announced will be used to provide healthy meals for growing children and adolescents.
It will be used in a variety of ways, including providing nutritious lunch boxes and side dishes, and supporting easy-to-prepare food kits to help children easily solve their meals.
The company also plans to help children living in daycare centers and child welfare facilities enjoy their favorite foods freely.
Do Yeong hopes to create a safe environment for children who are at risk of going without food during the cold winter holidays.
Following on from last year's birthday, this year too, he will practice sharing and exert a positive influence on vulnerable children and adolescents.
Do Yeong has been steadily donating to marginalized neighbors around the world, including to support women and young people from low-income families and to help with the recovery efforts following the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
Including the above, the total amount raised exceeded 340 million won (approximately 36 million yen). Such good deeds have had a positive impact on many people and have become an example for them. Do Yeong said, "I want to share the love I received with many people.
"I hope that this will help convey our hope that everyone can have a warmer winter this cold winter," said Park Jung-kwang, CEO of the G Foundation.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to NCT member Do Yon Sama for sharing his warm feelings for us. We are pleased that we can bring hope and courage to children in need through his donation."
"The food and grocery support for undernourished children goes beyond satisfying immediate hunger; it plays an important role in making them feel that they are receiving someone's love and support.
We will actively carry out support projects so that this can be brought to children's dining tables and they can live healthy and happy daily lives."
Meanwhile, Do Yeong is currently playing the role of Gwynplaine in the musical "The Man Who Laughs."
The musical "The Man Who Laughs" is currently being performed at the Seoul Arts Center Opera House.
