The company is making serious efforts to expand into overseas markets, starting with its first foray into Guam, USA in 2023, and then into Malaysia in 2024.
In 2025, the company plans to open an additional store in Guam, as well as stores 2 and 3 in Malaysia. In Malaysia, the company plans to increase the number of franchisees to 200 by 2029.
Meanwhile, Mega MGC Coffee opened its first overseas store in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia in May 2024. It plans to open its second and third stores in Mongolia by the end of the year, and then expand into other Asian and North American markets.
In addition, Compose Coffee will enter Singapore in 2023 and operate two stores. Pektabang operates 11 stores in the Philippines and one store in Singapore.
According to Statistics Korea, the number of franchisees offering coffee and non-alcoholic beverages in South Korea is expected to reach 32,238 by the end of 2023, up 9% from 29,581 the previous year.
An industry insider analyzed, "As the Korean coffee shop market is saturated, they are turning their attention overseas to diversify their portfolio."
