Cryptocurrency media "TU News" reported that Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), filed a lawsuit against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the US securities regulator, for abuse of power.
On the 17th (local time), DOGE announced that it would open an X account and receive public interest reports regarding waste, abuse, etc. within the SEC.
The cryptocurrency industry has welcomed DOGE’s launch of such an account.
Ruth Grewal argued that if the SEC loses a lawsuit, it will have to pay the attorneys' fees of the plaintiffs who brought the lawsuit.
The move comes as the SEC's lawsuit against Ripple reaches its final stages.
The SEC filed a lawsuit against Ripple alleging that the company violated securities laws by trading without registering it on the securities exchange, and the court ruled in part in Ripple's favor.
The ruling is expected to be made in due course. DOGE’s aggressive investigation of the SEC raises the possibility of financial regulators relaxing cryptocurrency regulations, TU News reported.
