韓国与党議員が “中道保守”の李在明氏に「与党に入党せよ」
South Korean ruling party lawmaker urges “centrist conservative” Lee Jae-myung to “join the ruling party”
Rep. Kim Ki-hyun of the ruling People Power Party said, "Self-proclaimed 'moderate conservative' Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, should join the ruling People Power Party."
On the 21st, Rep. Kim wrote on Feibook, "Chairman Lee's outrageous remarks are confusing the entire nation."
Rep. Kim said, "Until just a few days ago, the Democratic Party was a left-wing populist party that was handing out cash to the entire nation.
"It's pretty hasty for them to be calling for 'moderate conservatism' in a single day, even though they had already proposed a supplementary budget for the Democratic Party," he said.
"The Democratic Party is not a 'progressive party'. It is a 'moderate conservative' party that places importance on growth," he said. The next day, Lee also said, "The Democratic Party is not a 'progressive party'. It is a 'moderate conservative' party that places importance on growth."
In response, Rep. Kim pointed out, "Who could possibly think that the Democratic Party and Chairman Lee, who have consistently pursued far-left populism, are moderate conservatives?"
He continued, "I don't think the public will be misled by Representative Lee's obvious innocence, but
If those words are true, we would wholeheartedly welcome them," he wrote, adding, "We respectfully request that Representative Lee join the People Power Party (the ruling party), the only center-right conservative political party in South Korea."
