Jeju Air has once again announced measures in relation to the incident.
On the 24th, the company announced that it had introduced "heat-resistant bags" and "heat-resistant gloves" on board its aircraft.
The airline recently placed lithium battery fire suppression pouches and heat-resistant gloves on all of its aircraft and instructed flight attendants on how to use them.
Earlier this month, about a week after the Air Busan fire, Jeju Air suspended carrying lithium batteries on board its aircraft.
The government has announced that it has strengthened regulations so that passengers must carry their luggage in their small bags or backpacks when boarding the plane, rather than placing it on the shelf. This is in line with the Air Busan flight that was involved in the fire at Gimhae Airport.
This comes after what was suspected to be a battery explosion occurred on a plane and was cited as the cause of the fire, with many airlines announcing similar policies.
The fire suppression pouch introduced by Jeju Airport on the 24th is made of a fire-resistant material called "silica" that can withstand temperatures up to 1600 degrees, and the inside is made of "vermicular
The pouch is made of a vermiculite pad. If a fire breaks out inside the pouch, the heat will melt the vermiculite, covering the battery and cutting off oxygen, allowing the fire to be put out, according to the airline.
The company explained, "Jeju Air has been involved in all processes related to the introduction of the pouches since April last year, including the selection of a manufacturer, the selection of materials for the equipment, the design, and the creation of a user manual."
He added that he participated.
