”Tens of millions of won at once”... Drug distribution through high-paying part-time jobs in Korea

A man in his 20s who was lured by the promise of a high-paying part-time job and smuggled and distributed illegal drugs has been referred to the prosecution.
The police announced that a woman in her 20s, Ms. A, had been arrested and indicted on suspicion of violating the property management law, and that a man in his 20s, Mr. B, had been given an indictment without detention.
Around May last year, they smuggled and distributed approximately 7.1 kilograms of synthetic marijuana and other drugs.
A customs official, Mr. A, was arrested after attempting to bring 700 grams of highly concentrated liquid marijuana from the United States through Incheon Airport customs via international mail.
In addition, Mr. B divided illegal drugs that had already been brought into Korea into smaller portions at his home.
He was distributing synthetic marijuana to Suwon City, Gyeonggi Province, and other areas using a method called "hiding the marijuana in a bin and having the buyer pick it up." When the customs office identified Mr. B as the culprit,

They were also found to have brought in 700 grams of marijuana in a 100-ml bottle. The two men, who did not know each other, became involved in the crime after seeing a post on Telegram advertising "high-paying part-time work" by a drug cartel.
The ringleader gave them specific instructions and then paid them rewards ranging from millions to tens of millions of won through unregistered cryptocurrency exchange companies that are difficult to trace.
In addition, while investigating the case, Busan Customs discovered that another 1.2 kilograms of synthetic marijuana from Vietnam had been delivered to an apartment in Dong-gu, Busan.
The amount seized is equivalent to the amount of drugs that can be used by about 20,000 people at the same time. A customs official said, "We will continue to investigate the main Telegram user who smuggles illegal drugs from overseas and distributes them in Korea.

Even if a person is found guilty, he or she will be severely punished. The level of punishment varies depending on the type of drug. Under the Drug Control Law, a person who transports marijuana will be sentenced to imprisonment of one year or more, and a person who transports psychotropic drugs will be sentenced to imprisonment of one year or more.
Anyone who transports the drugs can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 100 million won (approximately 10.8 million yen).
