The first hearing will be held for the case against L, Harin, and Haein, entitled "Preserving the status of the planning company and prohibiting the conclusion of advertising contracts."
The five members of New Jeans appeared at Seoul Central District Court around 10 a.m. on the same day.
The members of "NewJeans", who appeared in black outfits, headed to the courtroom without saying anything in particular, and only HANI smiled at the reporters and then walked away.
The members of "NewJeans" appeared in court without a teaser, even though they were not required to appear in person.
It is believed that she attended the event in person. Representative Kim Juyeon from ADOR attended the event. Representative Kim Juyeon appeared with a stern expression and took her seat.
ADOR and "NewJeans" have been in an exclusive contract dispute since last November. On November 29th of last year, a member of "NewJeans" notified ADOR of the termination of the exclusive contract.
They have announced that they will change their team name to "NJZ" and are now working independently. They will be appearing at "Complex Live" to be held in Hong Kong on the 23rd of this month and are also scheduled to release a new song.
On the other hand, ADOR's position is that its exclusive contract with NewJeans is valid until July 31, 2029.
On January 6, ADOR filed an application for a provisional injunction against members of "NewJeans."
During this process, ADOR filed a lawsuit against the court on February 11th, asking for a ban on NewJeans' music activities, in order to protect the status and publicity of the planning company.
The parents of NewJeans said, "We are sorry to inform you that ADOR has not fulfilled its obligations under the exclusive contract, and therefore we will be forced to terminate the contract by 2024.
On November 29th, we notified them of the termination of the exclusive contract, which has now ended. Therefore, ADOR no longer has the authority to control or interfere with our activities."
At the time, ADOR claimed it was only concerned with advertising activities, but its application included a request to be recognized as a management company.
This is an attempt to restrict not only advertising but all of NJZ's entertainment activities, and ADOR's ultimate goal is to restrict NJZ's activities.
Moreover, on February 11, 2025, ADOR expanded the purpose of the provisional injunction application to include blocking not only advertising but also the songwriting, composition, and distribution of "NJZ"'s music.
"We have requested that all musical activities, including playing and singing, as well as all other ancillary activities, be banned," they said.
