Kim Sae-ron may have committed suicide on the day she was criticized by a controversial YouTuber... Her father reveals

The family of the late actress Kim Sae-ron has revealed that they plan to take legal action against Lee Jin-ho and others, claiming that they have suffered so much because of cyberwreckers, including the YouTube star Lee Jin-ho, and the media who have senselessly written down their footage.

　The father of the deceased, Mr A, said in an interview with a Korean media outlet on the 10th March "In Lee Jin-ho's video, there is a call to Sae-ron, but Sae-ron changed her phone number, ironically suggesting that this is the attitude of an actor under self-restraint" and his eyes lit up "On that very day, Theron committed suicide."

Earlier, on the 8th, Lee Jin-ho, a former entertainment journalist, posted on his YouTube channel ‘Entertainment Backstage Leader Lee Jin-ho’, ‘Kim Sae-ron, also self-moment deleted ... Hiding after marriage rumors? Contact me directly", he posted a video titled “Contact me directly”.

　In the video, Lee Jin Ho called the deceased, but she did not answer, and said, "Until just this week, the number was a contact number, but it seems that she even deleted her own number due to this discussion", and added, "The authenticity for self-restraint and behaviour without the least sense of responsibility as a famous celebrity continues, and the public continues to turn its back on Kim Sae-ron."

　According to the bereaved family, Kim Sae-ron took her own life on that very day and only made an attempt. A month later, as soon as the deceased passed away, Lee Jin-ho immediately made all the videos related to the deceased, including the one in question, private.

　In this regard, Mr A asked whether he would have refrained if his daughter had received Lee Jin-ho's phone call and not if she had not, and said "Whenever such videos are posted and taken up by the press, [my daughter] really tried to commit suicide a lot. I don't know how many times I have rushed to the emergency room with such a daughter on my back" and expressed her grief.

　At the same time, Mr A expressed his feelings that he was "very frustrated and angry", saying that he "wanted to call Lee Jin Ho and say bad things about him and that what you said was not true, but I couldn't record it."

　He concluded by saying, "I hope for legal punishment for Lee Jin-ho" and added, "I think a lot of impossible YouTube videos and articles were uploaded because we didn't take any legal action before. We plan to take legal action together with those who can help us, even for the sake of the remaining family members", and expressed her will to take a hard-line response.

　Earlier, Kim Sae-ron was found dead at her home on the 16th February. Since then, there has been a public outcry against cyberwreckers, which has drawn attention to Lee Jin-ho. In November 2022, Lee Jin-ho criticised the cyberwrecker, saying that he had received information about the deceased and that he had gone out drinking with acquaintances on his birthday during the period of self-restraint, and in 2023, after Kim Sae-ron suspended her acting career, she revealed that she was earning a living by working part-time, but she was accused of "staging a hard life to make it look like a hardship."

　In January this year, when a photo taken with an acquaintance raised marriage rumours, she was immediately scolded her for her ‘lack of authenticity in her self-restraint and minimal sense of responsibility as a famous celebrity’, and exposed all the personal circumstances of the deceased.

　Since the death of the deceased, there have been more calls for sanctions against cyber-wreckers.

　On the 24th, the website of the National Assembly e-Application received a ‘petition for strong sanctions in the parliamentary dimension to prevent celebrity suicides and other damage caused by the activities of the YouTube channels of entertainment journalists’.

　Petitioner B said "Young actor Kim Sae-Ron, who was supposed to develop an even bigger dream, took her own life. The actor had been living a quiet life of self-restraint since she caused a huge social stir with a car accident caused by a drunk driver a few years ago", and added, "Nevertheless, when the public forgot about her through the YouTube channels of entertainment department reporters who mainly deal with showbiz gossip and her social networking activities, her every move was exposed on a stalker level, regardless of her intentions", it was clarified.

　They continued, "I think it is necessary to make a public statement about this kind of malicious attitude of former and current reporters of the Ministry of Entertainment, which is repeated continuously", and added, "We must establish the basic qualification conditions for YouTubers involved in YouTube, which has the greatest impact on the daily lives of the entire nation, and make accurate regulations for video footage and stories, as well as the existing media. The petition urged the government to ‘establish the basic qualification conditions for YouTube users, which have the greatest impact on the daily lives of all citizens, and to start preparing accurate regulations and standards similar to those of the existing mass media."

　As of 12:30pm on the 10th, the relevant petition had received the consent of 7,467 people. If 50,000 people agree to the petition within 30 days, the petition will be officially accepted, and it will be transferred to the competent and relevant committees of the National Assembly, where it will be examined and dealt with in plenary sessions within 90 days.
