European Central Bank to launch 'digital euro' CBDC in October

The European Union (EU) will launch a central bank digital currency (CBDC) by October. According to reports, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde said, "We will launch a CBDC by October this year.
"We plan to launch a digital euro, which is a CBDC, by April," she said. "We will work to make the digital euro and cash compatible and also resolve the issue of personal information protection for CBDC.
"CBDC has attracted attention as a virtual currency that can replace cash due to its fast settlement speed. However, as records are kept during transactions, there are growing claims that measures to protect personal information are necessary.
