Mattress giant Sealy builds new factory, its largest in Asia, in South Korea

In June, American mattress manufacturer Sealy announced it would break ground on a mattress factory in South Korea, the company's largest in Asia, with completion scheduled for 2026.
Prior to this, Sealy's Korean subsidiary, Sealy Korea, had established a factory in Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do in 2016. The new factory will replace the existing factory.
The new facility will be located near the factory and will have a floor area of 14,000 square meters per floor. It will be operated as a comprehensive production facility, covering the entire process from storing raw materials to manufacturing and shipping the finished products.
In order to meet the increasing demand following the rapid growth of the Korean market, Tempur Sealy, the company's headquarters, and Sealy Australia, which oversees the Asia-Pacific region, have decided to invest in Korea.
Simon Dyer, chairman of the Asia-Pacific region, said during a visit to Korea in June 2024 that "Sealy Korea is Tempur Sealy's fastest growing market in the world."
Sealy Korea CEO Yoon Jeong-ho said, "The new factory is a testament to Sealy Korea's growth to date, and also serves as a stepping stone to realizing our management vision that will continue for the next 30 years or more.
"It will be an important starting point for Sealy's global expansion. It will likely play a key role as Sealy's core manufacturing base and hub in the future."
