Baekho announced that Mi Kyung was being laid off, saying, "There is no personal reason for laying off Kim.
"My job at the potato research institute was to streamline all the staff except for those essential to the business," he explained. However, Mi Kyung said, "I was the one being streamlined.
It seems too personal to me," Baekho said, adding, "You're the only non-majoring member of the team, you have no relevant experience, your contribution to the research is minimal, and you're just surplus talent on the research team."
Mi Kyung gets angry and says, "Have you seen my attendance records?" Baek Ho responds, "I was sincere. What the lab needs now is not sincere staff, but experts.
Kim Mi Kyoung, Deputy Director, what are you doing at the institute now? I couldn't find any evidence anywhere that you are helping with breed development."
Mi Kyung angrily replied, "It's not that it doesn't exist, but the director just doesn't know about it. If it can't be seen by the person himself, then it doesn't exist." Baek Ho replied, "Then please tell me directly. For the past six years,
What were your goals as a potato researcher, what did you do to achieve them, and what did you gain from them?" Mi-kyung replied, "You weren't just commuting to work without any goals, were you?
My goal is to one day develop a potato variety named after Mi Kyung. What I gained is..." he said, trailing off, and Baek Ho replied, "I accepted it in the sense that I had nothing at all.
"You don't have to leave right now. You can start preparing for a new job now," he said. In particular, Heejin (Jung Shin-ae) asked, "Are there any other people besides the case? Interesting people?" and Baekho replied,
"Someone interesting?" he mused. Baekho thought of Mi-kyung, and Heejin wondered, "What's with that smile? Who were you thinking of?"
