"We successfully hosted the Korean Pavilion at the 2025 International Food and Beverage Exhibition," he said. FOODEX JAPAN
2025 is the largest food expo in Asia and marks its 50th anniversary this year. It was held at Tokyo Big Sight from the 11th to the 14th of this month, with over 2,900 companies from 74 countries participating.
At this year's exhibition, Gyeongsang University ran the Korean Pavilion together with 11 Korean small and medium-sized enterprises, including five from Gyeonggi Province, and conducted 347 export consultations.
As a result, export consultation results totaled 47.72 million dollars (approximately 7,093 million yen) and contract promotion amounted to 18.41 million dollars (approximately 2,737 million yen).
The event recorded a record high of 100,000 visitors and also saw the signing of two MOUs (memorandums of understanding) on-site. A representative from a Korean company participating in the event commented, "We realized that Korean products are becoming more well-known in the Japanese market."
Kim Hyung-gon, president of the Korean Academy of Sciences, said, "Japan is the largest importer of Korean food, and this exhibition has confirmed that Korean food has gained even more economic power in the Japanese market."
"We will also actively support the participating companies in their post-event management so that the results of the discussions will actually lead to exports."
