The size of South Korea's digital healthcare industry market in 2023 is expected to be 6.493 trillion won (approximately 667.35054 billion yen), an increase of 13.5% from the previous year.
Driven by the growth of medical devices, including software, the manufacturing industry of products and accessories for collecting and processing digital healthcare data is expected to reach 1.6773 trillion won (approximately 171.977 billion yen).
The number of people working in the digital healthcare industry was 44,201, an 11% increase. By occupation, the largest proportion was research and development at 37.3%, followed by design.
This was followed by planning and design, and quality control. Only 9% of businesses had a track record of trading with overseas companies, but the amount of exports increased by 10.8% to 694.4 billion won (approximately 71.3 billion yen).
As market competition intensified, the average operating period for businesses decreased by three years to 11.4 years. As business became concentrated in large companies, the operating periods for corporations and headquarters/headquarters increased by 18.4% and 26.7%, respectively.
On the other hand, the number of non-corporate exclusive business operators decreased by 14.4% and 23.1%, respectively. Issues felt by those involved include a lack of local information when exporting (44.9%) and difficulty building networks.
The main reasons cited were lack of capacity (39.1%) and lack of funds (36.6%).
