Famous Korean actress suffers facial burns during treatment... Court orders her to admit negligence and pay 50 million won in compensation

A doctor who caused second-degree burns to a famous South Korean actress during a facial treatment has been awarded approximately 50 million won (approximately 5 million yen) in damages.
According to the Korean legal community on the 20th, the Seoul Central District Court's 18th Civil Division (Chief Park Junmin)
The court ruled that Doctor B, who caused burns to actress A's face, should pay 48,039,295 won in compensation. The court said Doctor B caused the burns by failing to consider his duty of care to adjust the intensity and frequency of treatments.
In May 2021, Mr. A underwent three types of skin treatments under anesthesia. During the process, Mr. A sustained a wound on his left cheek, but Mr. B only applied a moist bandage to the wound and did not take any special measures.
In response to this, Mr. A has undergone burn treatment and wound repair surgery 50 times at other dermatology clinics since 2021, but has not yet fully recovered.
Mr. A's side argued that Mr. B should pay 200 million won in compensation. The first trial accepted part of Mr. A's argument, but set the damages at 50 million won, including medical expenses already paid and compensation for mental anguish.
Neither side appealed the first-instance ruling, and the case was decided with B having to pay 50 million won in damages to A.
Meanwhile, A debuted in 2012 and has played leading roles in dramas such as "Gentleman's Dignity" and "Discovery of Romance."
She is currently appearing in a variety show.
