LG and Doosan team up to enter building equipment battery pack business (Korea)

Construction machinery company Doosan Bobcat and battery giant LG Energy Solutions have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to "develop battery pack solutions for small building equipment."
Under the MOU, the two companies will cooperate to develop small lithium battery packs and solutions for building equipment and provide them to major markets, including North America.
Solution will provide lithium Eon battery cells and modules, while Doosan Bobcat will provide battery management systems and other components. These will be packaged together to create a battery optimized for small building facilities.
The company plans to develop battery packs optimized for a wide range of products, from construction equipment such as wheel loaders and hydraulic excavators to agricultural equipment such as tractors.
Doosan Bobcat has been promoting in-house production of battery packs, which are directly linked to the performance of its automated equipment. From 2023, it will cooperate with Chinese lithium-ion battery manufacturer Zhuhai Guanyu Battery (COMX) to produce battery packs in-house.
The two companies will work together to develop a battery pack with excellent stability and performance, which will be installed in electric forklifts and sold from the second half of 2024.
Meanwhile, Doosan Bobcat established a new organization in January to handle its battery pack business.
A new R&D center has been established.
