”Obstructing the arrest of President Yoon”: Security Service official to review arrest warrant today (South Korea)
In South Korea, Deputy Chief of the Presidential Security Service Kim Sung-Hoon and Chief of the Security Headquarters Lee Kwang-Woo are at risk of being arrested on suspicion of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-Youl.
The Seoul Western District Court will conduct pre-arrest questioning (substantive warrant review) of Deputy Director Kim and Chief Lee at 10:30 a.m. on the 21st.
Deputy Director Kim and Chief Lee are suspected of obstructing the execution of official duties when the first arrest warrant for President Yoon was executed.
He is also suspected of special obstruction of justice and abuse of power, having instructed the administrator of the presidential office's mobile phone server to delete communications just before the execution of the second arrest warrant.
The police have indicted Deputy Director Kim and Chief Lee three times each on charges of leading the effort to block an arrest warrant for President Yoon Seok-youl.
The police applied for arrest warrants twice. The police said that Kim had ordered the deletion of communication records from the security office's mobile phones and obstructed the execution of a police search warrant to seize the mobile phone server, among other things.
The police were of the opinion that they should be arrested because there was a high possibility that they would conceal the facts. After the prosecution repeatedly did not request arrest warrants for Kim and Lee, the police requested the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office to issue warrants.
A request for review was filed.
