In response, Ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko expressed his gratitude for the support and assistance of the Korean government and people in relation to the situation in Ukraine.
Regarding the issue of repatriating North Korean prisoners of war, Ambassador Dmytro Ponomarenko said, "Ukraine complies with international law, including the Geneva Conventions, and will hold discussions with the international community, including South Korea."
South Korea's Ministry of Unification explained, "Both sides agreed that South Korea and Ukraine are important cooperative partners and agreed to maintain continuous communication and cooperation."
Two North Korean prisoners of war who were sent to the Russian military and captured by Ukrainian forces during a battle are now reportedly hoping to go to South Korea.
