President Trump: 'Announce auto tariffs within days', hints at possibility of reciprocal tariff exemptions

On the 24th (local time), US President Donald Trump said he plans to announce tariffs on automobiles within the next few days.
However, it also indicated the possibility of granting exceptions or exemptions to some countries regarding "reciprocal tariffs," which are tariffs equivalent to each country's tariffs, non-tariff barriers, and taxes.
At a Hyundai Motor Group investment announcement event held at the White House on the same day, President Trump said, "We will make an announcement on automobile (tariffs) within the next few days."
"If a problem like war were to occur, we would need a lot of steel, medicine, aluminum, etc., but we don't make them," he said. "Not in the distant future, but in the very near future."
"We will announce tariffs in the near future," he said. In February of this year, President Trump reaffirmed his policy of imposing tariffs on various product sectors, including automobiles, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals, proposing a 25% tariff rate.
Initially, it was expected that the auto tariffs would be announced on April 2, the same day that the reciprocal tariffs were announced. President Trump reiterated that he would announce the reciprocal tariff plan on April 2, as he had initially teased.
"The tariffs that trading nations have imposed on the United States are so high that we would be embarrassed to impose them ourselves," he said, adding that the tariffs will be announced on April 2.
