Ji Chang Wook & Nam Jihyon's ”Suspicious Partner” to be remade in Japan with Yusei Yagi and Kyoko Saito in the lead roles
The popular SBS drama Suspicious Partner has been attracting a lot of attention with its remake in Japan.

The Japanese version of ‘Suspicious Partner’ will be broadcast on terrestrial MBS (Mainichi Broadcasting System) and TBS in Japan from Tuesday 29th April and will be available on the global OTT Disney Plus (Disney+) throughout Asia, including Japan and South Korea.

Suspicious Partner, which aired on SBS in South Korea in 2017, is a romantic comedy about Noh Ji-wook, a close-minded prosecutor, and Eun Bong-hee, an endlessly positive outsider lawyer, who fall in love while solving a mysterious case together. Ji Chang-wook and Nam Ji-hyun's fantastic chemistry, crush romance and spectacular thriller were loved by viewers in harmony. When it first aired, it was recognised for its buzz and immersive nature to the extent that the neologism ‘Suspicious Partner’ was coined.

‘Suspicious Partner’ received wide support in Japan, especially from Korean drama fans, and won numerous awards, including the ‘Best Acting Award’ at the 2017 SBS Acting Awards and the ‘Best Kiss Award’ at the 2018 Soompiers Awards, proving its workability and popularity at the same time. The remake has attracted interest in how it will be reborn in Japan.

This remake of Suspicious Partner stars Yagi Yusei, a member of the dance and vocal group FANTASTICS, and Saito Kyoko, from the female idol group Hinatazaka 46. The film will be directed by Yuka Yasukawa and written by Yosuke Masaike.

Meanwhile, Studio S plans to promote the Japanese remake of ‘Stove League’ in 2024, followed by a series of remakes of ‘Suspicious Partner’, to further strengthen production and business cooperation with Japan.
