医大生の復帰タイムリミット1日前にソウル大教授ら「学校に戻りなさい」と呼び掛け
Seoul National University professors call for medical students to ”return to school” one day before deadline
As the deadline for medical students taking a collective leave of absence to return approaches, the Seoul National University faculty council has issued a letter calling on students to "please return to school."
On the 26th, the Seoul University Professors Association issued an open letter under the name of Chairman Lim Jeong-muk, stating, "The issue of your return is a serious matter that is directly linked to the future of our medical care.
"We sincerely ask that you return to school and work with the residents and professors to shape the future of medical care in the Republic of Korea," the faculty association said.
He continued, "The biggest reason why medical professionals are respected by society is because of their dedication and service to patients and the public without being concerned with personal matters."
He added, "Professors will do their best to ensure that you can return safely and focus on your studies."
The deadline for returning medical students on leave set by Seoul National University's College of Medicine is 5 p.m. on the 27th. Not only Seoul National University, but the majority of medical schools have set the end of March as the deadline for returning.
On the 21st, Kyungbuk National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University were the first to begin the process of expulsion, followed by Gyeongyang University on the 24th.
On the 27th, Seoul National University, Ewha Women's University, Busan National University, and Jeju National University also applied for reinstatement.
In addition, some universities will complete the reinstatement application between the 28th and 31st. In schools where the deadline has passed, they are taking the procedure of notifying medical students who have not yet reinstated that they will be expelled.
Yonsei University sent notices of planned expulsion by mail to 398 unregistered medical students, which accounts for 45.2% of the total number of students at Yonsei University's College of Medicine (881).
In the case of Korea University, it is estimated that about 30% of medical students have been notified of their intention to be expelled.
The Ministry of Education (equivalent to the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in Japan) will monitor the progress of medical students returning to the university until the end of this month, but will not disclose the current status of registration in order to protect those who return.
I decided not to.
