Gyeonggi Province Governor in an apron: ”Considering one-on-one aid for villages affected by forest fires”
Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, donned an apron to provide warm jerseys to victims who lost their homes and were forced to live in small evacuation centers after the wildfires.
On the 29th, the governor inspected the fire scene in Imha-myeon, Andong City, North Gyeongsang Province, and confirmed that Imha-myeon Welfare Hall and Andong West Elementary School had been damaged in the fire.
The governor visited a school and shook the hands of disaster victims to offer his condolences. At the welfare center, the governor donned a red apron, got into the Cooking Car of Love, and volunteered to help distribute meals by boiling noodles himself.
The governor said, "It pains me to meet those who have lost the basis of their livelihoods and suffered damage," and added, "We will continue to work with affected villages and villages to provide swift assistance in addition to the assistance that Gyeonggi Province has already decided on."
"Through the connections between cities and counties (volunteer centers), we should consider a one-on-one rescue plan," he instructed. Gyeonggi Province responded to the worst forest fires that hit North and South Gyeongsang Provinces.
