GS Retail has partnered with Musinsa, an e-commerce fashion mall operator, to sell clothes at approximately 3,000 "GS25" locations.
Musinsa has launched a brand for GS25 called "Musinsa Standard Express" and is currently developing a total of 12 products.
The target customers will be in their teens to 30s. This will be the first time that a convenience store has partnered with a fashion specialist to launch an exclusive brand and sell clothing.
A merchandiser at the company said, "Recently, the awareness among young people that 'even if it's just one piece of clothing, I want to buy something good,' has been spreading, so we have decided to develop clothing as a differentiated category."
Sales in the clothing category at 3,000 stores from March 2 to 14 increased 65% compared to the same period last year. In addition to GS25, Seven-Eleven also has stores specializing in the fashion and beauty fields.
The store will feature products from street fashion brands such as MWOONG. E-Mart 24 also began selling sleeping socks and neck warmers in September 2024.
The number of convenience stores is expected to reach about 56,500 in 2024, exceeding the 56,000 in Japan. As more products are required to attract customers, the number of convenience stores in China is expected to increase along with fashion and beauty.
The gin rate is high and is attracting attention.
