IU(アイユー)、「『おつかれさま』でパク・ボゴムがグァンシクを引き受けてシナジーが良かった」
IU: ”Park BoGum took on the role of Kwangshik in 'Thank You' and we had great synergy.”
Singer IU talked about Park BoGum, with whom she showed the best pairing in "Thank You." On the morning of the 2nd, at the Ambassador Seoul Pullman Hotel in Jung-gu, Seoul, she spoke about the Netflix series "Thank You."
IU, the star of "Thank You for Your Support," had a round interview. On this day, IU said, "I'm happy. I've received a lot of supportive emails from people around me, and even people I haven't been able to contact for a long time.
Since its release, "Thank You" has been dominating charts not only in Korea but also around the world.
IU, who decided to take on the role even before reading the script, said, "First of all, I was a fan of the writer Im Sang-choon. I didn't know him personally.
One day, I got a call from him. After a while, we had a meeting in the studio and I listened to the explanation before receiving the script, and I was so excited. It was nice to talk to the writer, but I wanted to go home and read it.
But I wanted to ask if it was okay, because it was the first time I had heard the story in a long time, and the theme and story made my heart pound. I read it in no time, and I said, "I'd love to do it," and...
IU, who is now taking on the not-so-easy dual role of Ae-seung and Geum-myung, said, "The writer told me, 'One person has to play two roles, and two people have to take on one role.'
It was a mission that made my heart beat faster. It would be a lie to say that it was difficult and I wasn't worried, but I had a strong belief in the script, and when I heard that it was Kim Won-seok, the director,
"I was able to believe that it would not be a lonely task for me alone," he said, "The work period was long and difficult. He is a sensitive and uncompromising director with his own standards, so
"It would be a lie to say there were no hardships, but the year I spent filming 'Good Work' was the most rewarding one," he said. He also expressed admiration for his perfect pairing with Park BoGum (who plays the young man Ya Kwang-sik).
IU said, "I've known Bo-gum since I was a teenager. We were just friends who would occasionally say hello, but after spending a whole year with him, I was really impressed by a lot of things. I'm really proud of him."
We were colleagues, and even though we were the same age, he was much more mature and serious than me, had great physical endurance, and was so kind to people that I couldn't compare him to myself. I really admired him.
He was a very proud colleague. And I also thought it was good for Shinji to have Bo-gum, who has that kind of personality, take on the role of Kwang-sik."
He continued, "When I look into his eyes, I can concentrate better, and even when there is a cut, I feel like I'm Kwang-sik, so I'm good at it.
I reflected on my actions and felt a stronger desire to learn from him than ever before because he was a good, deep and serious person on set. I was surprised again when I met him again during promotional activities after a year had passed.
But that wasn't all. I felt a different charm from him, and he showed enthusiasm for PR. He was enthusiastic about the film "Good Boy," and it was a good inspiration for me.
He was such a trustworthy partner that he would do whatever he wanted unconditionally, and I was grateful."
