Ha Jung Woo of the movie ”Lobby” goes to promotional events 3 days after appendicitis surgery... he survives with painkillers
Actor and director Ha Jung Woo spoke about the time he underwent emergency surgery. On the 25th of last month, Ha Jung Woo attended the press preview of the movie "Lobby," which he directed and starred in.
He was scheduled to attend, but he had to undergo emergency surgery for acute appendicitis, which caused concern. He was later discharged from the hospital three days after the surgery to promote "Lobby," and showed his passion while taking painkillers.
During a recent interview with Herald POP held at Showbox headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, he shared his current condition, saying that he is "currently recovering."
He said, "I was really surprised. I didn't have acute pain originally, I had chronic pain, but I had a lot of pain during the Lunar New Year.
I went to the hospital, had a number of tests done and was prescribed some medicine. I thought I would get better if I took the medicine, but the night before the press screening, I suddenly developed a fever. I broke out into a cold sweat, and in the middle of the night, wondering what was going on, I pressed my stomach.
"When I tried it, it was extremely painful. It was the middle of the night, there was nothing I could do, and I didn't want to believe it, so I ignored it and went back to sleep. But my instinct was that I had to go to the hospital," he added.
"I went to the emergency room. I said I would go to the event during the day and come back in the evening for treatment. We decided to talk again after the results were out, and I had a CT scan, but I had to have surgery right away.
"I was stuck in a bind because I couldn't do anything," he said. Ha Jung Woo's third directorial work, "Lobby," is currently being screened to rave reviews in Korea.
