ジニョン(GOT7)、ミャンマーの強震被害児童のために約300万円寄付…「少しでも希望を伝えたい」
Jin Young (GOT7) donates 3 million yen to children affected by the Myanmar earthquake... ”I want to spread hope even just a little bit”
Actor Jin Young, a member of the group GOT, has donated 30 million won (approximately 3 million yen) to children affected by the severe earthquake in Myanmar.
On the 3rd, the international children's rights NGO Save the Children announced that Jin Young was one of the children affected by the Myanmar earthquake.
Jin Young said, "I want to give some hope to the children who are suffering from the earthquake. I hope that this donation will be used for earthquake relief efforts."
Jin Young was previously commissioned by the Save the Children Annas Club to donate approximately 3 million yen to children and families in the areas affected by the earthquake in Turkiye, Syria in 2023.
On March 28, a strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck the Mandalay region in central Myanmar, with more than 2,000 deaths reported. The earthquake caused buildings to collapse and many casualties, with many injured and missing.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Operations (OCHA) said that a kindergarten collapsed in Mandalay at the time of the earthquake, causing many casualties, and that evacuation shelters, drinking water, and other supplies were being provided.
They urged for emergency aid, fearing further damage from a shortage of medicines. Save the Children Korea has donated $150,000 (approximately 220 million Korean won) to help with the earthquake damage.
The company is currently running an emergency fundraising campaign through online fundraising platforms Naver Happy Bean and Kakao Like Value, with support from the donor community.
