President Yoon is ”impeached”... the second person in South Korean political history

"The defendant, President Yoon Seok-yeol, is impeached." At 11:22 a.m. on April 4, 2025, South Korea's Constitutional Court made a decision to approve the "impeachment" of President Yoon.
President Yoon, the first prosecutor-former-member president in constitutional history and the first to assume the presidency just eight months after entering politics, became the second president in South Korea's political history to be impeached on this day.
By returning to being a "natural person, Yoon Seok-yeol," he will no longer be able to receive any support except for security and guards.
President Yoon has been working on various reform issues and has been exploring the direction of national administration in the second half of his administration.
However, facing a long period of low approval ratings and repeated conflicts with the large opposition party, the 12/3 non-partisan party was defeated.
The establishment of permanent martial law marked his withdrawal from the historical stage.
